Decathlon | Van Rysel

Evolving with the European titan as they position themselves in the US market

THE BRIEF
For the third consecutive year, Decathlon USA enlisted us to design their event booth for the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA. Now a mainstay of the annual event, the booth was initially branded Decathlon before being revised to focus on the bicycle sub-brand Van Rysel in year 2. This year, the VR team wanted to bring some stronger Euro ambience to the booth.

CHALLENGES
The 20’x60’ footprint of the booth was split into 2 main areas, each with their own theme and product lineup to display. These two areas needed to live together in a cohesive unit, and provide functionality including product displays, graphics, and meeting areas.

SOLUTION
We outfitted the booth with new custom-built bike platforms, wall mounts, light fixtures, and greeting counters, choosing materials and finishes that strengthened the theming of the space. We also executed a van build for use alongside the booth or as a standalone activation, designed to facilitate bike transport and test riding.

Van Buildout

As an experiential element to accompany the booth, we executed a Sprinter van buildout. We handled the van modification, including installing wall panels and hardware for bike storage. Our branding team designed the branded vinyl wrap for the exterior.
The van functioned as a mobile bike demo station, transporting repair tools and bikes to the event for consumers to test out. While it was created alongside the booth for Sea Otter, the van could also be used as a standalone brand activation for future events.
